This 6,000 square foot peaceful home is a comfortable upscale family-style retreat with a heated swimming pool with waterfall, convenient indoor and outdoor dining, a large living room, separate den/family room, a game room and a fully equipped bar, and a large convenient floor plan.
A 5-10 minute stroll through the gated community of Kona Bay Estates leads you to a charming sandy cove shaped lagoon which is suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and playing in the sand. Abundant tidepools which offer great exploration for children and teens dot the lava rock shelf fronting the homes in the area. From Luxury III you may walk into Kailua-Kona Town for entertainment, dining, and shopping. The spectacular sandy swimming beaches and resort areas of Hualalai, Waikoloa, Mauna Lani and Mauna Kea are from 20-45 minutes easy drive up the Kohala coast. Just a few minutes drive to the south are the world-famous Kona coffee plantations, snorkeling bays of Keahou and Kealakekua and historical sites such as the Refuge and Captain Cook Monument.
There are several golf courses, play fields, movie theaters, and other recreation in Kailua-Kona Town area within a few minutes drive.
A unique feature of this wonderful home is the floorplan, with all but the master bedroom on one single level. The kitchen and dining room are elevated a few steps but there is a convenient ramp from the pool deck up into the kitchen which makes the entire lower level with pool, patio, living room, den room, bar/game room, 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms all wheelchair accessible. The bathrooms are not outfitted with handrailings or other permanent installations. Specialty equipment is available for rent as needed.
Luxury III does not have air conditioning. Refreshing breezes usually sweep in off the ocean to help keep the property cool and comfortable. We do not suggest this villa for visitors who normally live with artificial cooling if uncomfortable in temperatures exceeding 75 degrees.
Nature permitting you may have views of turtles, dolphins, and whales (in season) from your home. Nearby activities include swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, sport fishing, tennis, golf, hiking, sailing, botanical gardens, cofee plantations, horseback riding, volcano viewing, parasailing (in season), luaus, lap pool swimming, a ball field across the street, and so much more! The "Big Island" of Hawaii also has spectacular postcard perfect gold, black or white sand swimming beaches located along the Kohala coast, all with public access, restrooms, showers and picnic facilities.
