Surrounding:
The island's population is limited to guests and staff for on this one island is only one resort. Virtually the whole of the 300 acre island is covered in virgin rainforest estimated to be more than two million years old with magnificent sweeping bays of fine sandy beaches along its perimeters. The island is large enough to sustain an abundance of wildlife yet smalI enough to have escaped man's exploitaton. The island is traversed by jungle trails culminating at many of the bays along the island's perimeter. Nature lovers will encounter a variety of species of colourful birds and plants including native orchids.Yellow pied hornbills, white-breasted sea eagles, crab-eating macaque monkeys and tropical iguanas are common sights.
Accommodation:
The main Resort in Royal Bay offers guests a choice of three suites and four different villa styles as well as 8 Estates to rent. The villas are all designed to accommodate two guests. All villas have thermostat controlled air-conditioning, king-size bed, writing desk, an electronic safe, direct-dial telephone, hairdryer, refrigerator and coffee and tea making facilities. Additionally, there is a CD-player with a large selection of music available from the Library.
Garden Villas (40 Villas): Set amidst the lush tropical gardens of the Resort, these are housed in double-storey units.
Hill Villas (54 Villas): Perched dramatically on the hillside amidst the rainforest, these villas have a magnificent view of the sea and the Resort's beautiful tropical gardens. Housed in double-storey units, the villas on the ground floor feature a huge bathtub in a private open courtyard while the bathrooms in the villas on the first floor open out to the rainforest.
Sea Villas (21 Villas): Standing elegantly on stilts over the sea and linked by wooden walkways, these villas are the signature feature of the island. Each private villa is airy and spacious, has a large balcony with deck chairs and a bathroom with an oversized tub that opens onto the sea.
NEW May 2002: Spa Villas (22 Villas) are similar to the Sea Villas, and within easy reach of Pangkor Laut's newest addition, the Spa Village. Here the traditional massage and bath therapies of Asia are practiced in private pavilions, healing huts, and treatment rooms. Ancient healing arts are fundamental to all treatments in the Village, and are intended to soothe and refresh, generating an overall sense of well being.
Suria and Purnama Suites (2 Suites): Both the Suria and Purnama Suites stand on stilts over the sea and feature an entrance hall, separate bedroom and elegant lounge, balconies for sunbathing, and a spacious bathroom with windows that offer beautiful views of the sea from the oversized bathtub.
Pavarotti Suite (1 Suite): Named after the world-renowned tenor who fell in love with Pangkor Laut, this is an elegant one-bedroom suite set high on the hill in the rainforest. It has a spacious and luxurious lounge area, an extensive balcony with breathtaking views of the sea and tropical rainforest, and an enormous open-roofed bathroom. With the option of adding on two adjacent hill villas, this suite is ideal for large families and business executives who require extra room, privacy and separate accommodations.

Dining at the Resort is sure to be a delightful experience. With a choice of superb venues, the options range from authentic Malay to traditional Chinese. Seven resturants and Lounges offer a range dining on the island. The Palm Grove Cafe offers casual all day dining comprising local as well as Continental dishes. The Samudra Restaurant serves a unique blending of Malaysian and Mediterranean cuisines in a spectacular over-water setting. The Royal Bay Beach Club overlooking our 35 metre lap pool and tennis courts offers poolside snacks and platters to accompany a round of drinks in a dramatic setting. The Oasis Bar on the deck of our freeform pool offers drinks and Tropical Cocktails. Chapmans Bar located beachfront at Emerald Bay offers light lunches or snacks, allowing you to spend the day at our little piece of heaven. Booking a boat for a dinner at sea is also possible.
